Green Building Reader Advocacy Success — You Made a Difference for Energy Efficiency

Green Building Solutions wants to extend a sincere thank you to all of our dedicated readers and community members. Together, we have made leaps and bounds of progress for energy efficiency through the years, and this year broke the record for the number of ICC registrants!

Building codes are important. They dictate the ways in which things will be built when constructing a building, providing guidelines to help all tradespeople build safely and efficiently. Today, the leading organization in the building code arena is known as the International Code Council (ICC). Those that are registered to vote with the ICC have the ability to make a major impact on the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code.

Working closely with the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE), we encouraged governmental entities to register and vote for energy efficiency by this year’s March 29th deadline. According to the ICC, more than 1,000 governmental entities registered over last year’s numbers! This looks like the future will have more voters for energy efficiency than ever before, hopefully increasing the number of registrants who will support energy efficiency improvements to the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code.

Stay tuned for updates on the latest news about energy efficiency proposals for the 2021 vote. And be on the lookout in October, for an up-to-date voting guide outlining all the reasons to support energy efficiency for the vote in November.

Together we can continue to make a difference for energy efficiency!
